Kings Custom Paint
Kenji Hoshi
Born in 1969 in Misato City, Saitama Prefecture. Moved to Fukushima Prefecture in 1977. After graduating high school in 1988, he joined a local car bodywork and painting company. In 1994, he moved to the United States, where he immersed himself in various aspects of American culture and learned the fundamentals of custom painting. He returned to Japan in 1999 and established Kings Custom Paint in 2000, where he continues to work to this day.
About his work:
His work is characterized by a novel expressive method that blends Japanese traditional craft techniques, which he has uniquely developed, with European and American fine and decorative arts. This approach transforms motorcycle gasoline tanks into large jewelry-like expressions.
キングスカスタムペイント
星 健二（ほし けんじ）
1969年生まれ。埼玉県三郷市出身。1977年に福島県に移住。1988年に高校卒業後、地元の板金塗装会社に入社。1994年、渡米しあらゆるアメリカンカルチャーに触れカスタムペイントの基礎を学ぶ。1999年に帰国。2000年よりキングスカスタムペイント事業開始。現在に至る。
作品をの特徴としては日本の工芸技術を流用 し独自で開発した技法 とヨーロッパ、欧米等 の美術工芸をミックス した新しい表現方法に よりガソリンタンクを 大きなジュエリーとし て表現している作品で す。
